Recap of the Summer - June & July 2011

Dear Logan,

Oh My!  I haven't written to you in two months!  I can't believe I've been putting this off for so long.  I am so sorry.  I don't even remember what I've done the last two months.  I need to take a look at the pictures that I've taken and then give you a run down.

June 19 - Father's Day!  Mommy and Aidan took Daddy to a nice fancy lunch at Parcel 104.  We had a BBQ lunch.  The food tasted OK, though not worth the price.  I figured, this might be a good excuse to visit a fancy restaurant without paying for the full price.

June 23 - We went to our first San Jose Giants game of the season.  Yahoo! was a sponsor for the evening, so they were giving out free tickets to their employees.  Since I purchased a kid membership through Groupon, your brother was able to play the games unlimited times.  He was in the batting cage, and the very nice staff pitched to him instead of using the machine (too fast for him).  We cheered for the Giants, but didn't stay till the end since it's a school night.  We'll be back again in August for another game.

June 26 - We had a playdate with Melanie, Uncle Kyle and Auntie Leonor.  They had free tickets to the San Francisco Zoo and we spent the afternoon there.  I never realized the zoo was so big until you're hanging out with two little kids.  We probably only checked out 1/4 of the zoo, and mainly in the children and petting zoo.

July 2 - We headed to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for this super busy July 4th weekend.  It was beautiful and hot!  We spent some time at the beach first, and getting your brother comfortable in walking & playing in the sand.  When we came here two years ago, he wasn't very keen on getting sand in his feet.  After the beach, we were playing games on the boardwalk.  This time around, he was older and was able to get a lot more out of the fun rides and food there.  There were rides he could go by himself, and some that Daddy and Mommy took turns going on with him.  Aidan didn't want to leave at the end of the day.  He said he wanted to come back again.  I bet we'll be back again before the season ends.

July 22 - We headed to Yahoo! Family Fun Day.  They have it every year and we weren't there early enough to take full advantage of the event.  By the time we finished eating, the lines to all games were so long.  Aidan played some games, but wasn't patient enough to wait in line for other more popular attractions.  He did enjoy  free popsicles and ice-creams.

Now that I listed everything down, wow, we had a very busy summer.  Summer is not over yet and we have many more fun things to do.  I hope to go back to Santa Cruz before the season ends, and maybe another SF Giants game, but I doubt it.  I'll keep you posted!

Happy Father's Day!

Dear Logan,

What a beautiful day today for Father's Day! Did you like the new pinwheels and blue flowers that we brought to you today? It was interesting to try to put them into the soil. What about the little toys that Daddy saved for you? Your brother used to play with those. We figured we can put them into the little vase area, so that when they mow the lawn, they won't be damaged. However, I am worried about water collected in it. We'll have to see. When we came to visit you, your brother first showed signs of allergies. Then I felt my nose running as well. Next time I came to visit you, I need to remember to bring my mask. Your brother was very interested in the pinwheels. When we first arrived, there wasn't any wind. But after we put the pinwheels in, the breeze picked up. It was nice to see the pinwheels moving.

After visiting you, we went for lunch and then headed to Fry's. Daddy didn't want to do anything special for Father's day, but just to spend time with family. So, what's a better place for all fathers in the Silicon Valley than Fry's, right? Your brother saw a boy playing Wii Fit there and got so into it. He stood there for a long time and ran with the boy when the boy was running. After the boy left, he was able to play for a little while. That reminded us that we haven't touched our Wii at home in a long, long time. Guess what, Daddy got Mommy (and himself, actually) the Wii Fit!!! Your brother spent 2 hours this afternoon playing all of the Wii Play and Wii sports games, and Mommy set up the account for Wii Fit and played for a while. Let's see if Wii Fit will help Mommy lose some weight.

We didn't get Daddy anything special for Father's Day, and since your brother wasn't in school, there wasn't any arts and crafts either. So, when the flight attendant offered your brother toys/activities on the plane, I spotted this picture frame thingy and I snatched it. We assembled that on the plane, and I put in a picture last night when I couldn't sleep. It made the perfect Father's Day present, made by your brother and Mommy. I know you wanted to give Daddy a present as well, and I am sure Daddy could feel your presence and love for him.

Oh, you know what, Auntie Goretti mailed Mommy a new rosary. She must have read my blog from before about how I gave you my rosay. That is so nice of her!! I am going to put this rosary in the car, where your rosary used to be.

Mommy has to sleep soon. I had less than 6 hours of sleep the last two days. If it weren't for my endorphins running after Wii Fit, I would be asleep already. Mommy will talk to you some more tomorrow.

Monterey Trip and Father's Day weekend

We had a fantastic weekend! It was short, a little rush, but nonetheless, we were able to have fun and not think about work or wedding planning.

The sole purpose of the trip was to take Aidan to the Monterey Aquarium, since he always shows interests in checking out the fish in fish tanks at restaurants. He saw some big fishies, but wasn't very interested in most of them. He had a lot more fun playing in the children's area than checking out the big sharks. It's all good. He's still young and we'll probably go back when he's a little older.

His favorite activity was to play with the water and squirting plastic fish at the children's area. He was laughing and running around, getting himself all wet. We didn't put an apron on him and his shirt and socks got all wet the first day. We went back the second day and we're prepared this time. We put on those yellow aprons provided, and I bought a extra set of clothes. I knew he's going to get so wet.




Aidan also had a lot of fun walking on the "water bed" in the children's area. He was a little wobbly and unsteady at first, but he got the hang of it and was able to walk and run around. He also played with another kid that was a little older than he is. The little boy was almost wrestling with Aidan, but it was all good fun. Aidan was laughing and playing with him.. no harm done.

Another fun event for Aidan was the slide. Ever since he tried that, he's been a big fan. He can now climb up the stairs by himself and slide down without much help (of course not when it was a very steep and fast one).

The second day of our trip was Father's Day. This time, mommy was behind the camera so daddy and Aidan got to take some pictures. Before we boarded on their free trolley to the aquarium, the conductor lent us her hat so daddy and Aidan both got to take a picture with it. The trolley rides were enjoyable and Aidan was well-behaved.
