International Children's Day - Aidan Style

Hello Sweetheart,

How are you today? The weather in Macau is getting warmer again, after a few days of cloudy and cooler weather. It's International Children's Day today (June 1). It wasn't celebrated in the States, but there are all kinds of free activities in Macau, as well as in China. Your grandaunt told me some people in China also got the day off. I wonder why we don't get that, or even acknowledge the day in the U.S.

Remember the Uncle I told you about yesterday that I thought he might not know about you? I actually sent him an email telling him about you. And he replied he actually knew about you and has already read the blog. But then, when Mommy took your big brother for a haircut today, the hairdresser (old friend of Ah Gung and Ah Po, and Mommy went there since I was a little girl), asked about you. I didn't explain to him. I just told him you didn't come back and I only took your brother home. It's too hard to explain that to him, esp. when he's not really Mommy's friend. Do I sound like a hypocrite by not saying anything and when I complained about your non-existence yesterday?

Mommy took your brother out today. In the name of International Children's Day, we went to the playground, and the Venetian. It's more like I don't want your brother to be home all day watching videos on the Ipod, or playing with the laptop and gameboy. So, it's better for him to go out and run around. And boy, did he run around. He had so much fun sitting in the cars and turning left and right. He was so cute that he actually stopped at the Stop Sign, and the fake traffic lights. Such a goody goody. Since it wasn't weekend, there weren't too many kids waiting in line to ride the cars, and your brother was able to go back for a second time. Usually, they charge, but today's free because it's Children's Day.

We then head over to The Venetian. Mommy initially wanted to check out this place called City of Dreams (basically, shops, restaurants, casino and 3 hotels - Crown, Hyatt and Hard Rock). Their grand opening is today at 7:30 p.m. with fireworks. But when we got there, we couldn't go in, but only to wait in line for the Opening Ceremony and celebration. We didn't want to wait, so we headed over to The Venetian. It's right across the street and it's better to watch fireworks t here. Your brother was running around like a mad dog. He went everywhere, up and down the bridges over the canal, wanted to go up every escalator and elevator. There were certain esclators that he couldn't go because they went directly to the casino. Fortunately, your brother was able to see the sign (showing no children) and understood and obeyed. Thank god for that. I was actually able to reason with him. Grandaunt #6 came from Guangzhou and went with us. She was chasing after your big brother. We almost missed the fireworks. We were still inside the Venetian at 7:30 p.m. because your brother was running around, and we're a little lost. Fortunatley, the fireworks didn't start till 8 p.m. and we're able to make it. It's only a 5-6 minute show.

Ah Gung then picked us up, and also Auntie Mena from school, and we all went for dinner. Your brother as usual, didn't nap, and only went to bed at around 11 p.m. Because he's tired, it only took him 30 mins to fall asleep. Not too bad.

Now Mommy could have some quiet time to blog and get online.

Tomorrow will be another day of activities. I'll tell you all about them later, ok?

Take care, honey. Mommy will talk to you soon.

Miss you,
Mommy
